The award of the EU-OFF prizes took place may the 22nd at 5pm in the gardens of the Th. Monod museum.
Atmosphere of festivities, thanks to the concert of the Guissé brothers and a large audience for this ceremony which was honored by the presence of Mr Mame Birame Diouf, minister of culture, Mr Gilles Hervio, head of delegation for the European Union, Mr Magueye Kassé, curator of Dak’Art, Mr Ousseynou Wade, general secretary of Dak’Art, Mamadou Ndoye Dout’s, laureat of 2006 prize and Mauro Petroni, coordinator of the OFF shows.

The awards of the Public for the OFF offered by the European Union will take place thursday 22nd of may at 5pm in the gardens of the Musée Théodore Monod.
The EU as in 2006 will give its UE-OFF prize of the public under the sponsorship of the artist Mamadou Ndoye Dout’s, laureat of the prize in 2006. This year, 3 artists exhibiting in the Dak’art OFF , 6 gallery owners, 1 journalist and also 20 personnes of the public will be awarded.
A great festive moment and many surprises to expect accompanied by the concert of the Guissé brothers in a specially designed place! We expect many of you thursday at 5 pm !

Today monday 12th of may 2008, in the office of the Dak’Art, the manager of Arts and Culture department of ZULOGA Corp., Valérie Oka offered the 4 great awards to the artists Ndary Lo, Mansour Ciss Kanakassy, Nkosikhona Ngcobo and Johann Van Der Schijff.
This awards’ ceremony followed the official awards’ ceremony of ZULOGA during the opening of the biennale, honored by the presence of the president of the Republic of Senegal, S.E.M, M. WADE.
The professional meetings of Dak’Art 2008 started this saturday 10th of may and will carry on until the 13th of may to the Musée Théodore Monod.

The awards has been offered during the opening ceremony of the Biennale friday the 9th of may at Musée Théodore Monod in Dakar, honored by the presence of the President of the Republic and the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of Senegal.
The opening of the village for professionnals of the Biennale, Kër Dak’art, will take place May 9th, in the gardens of the african art Museum T. Monod, former IFAN. This Village remains opened 9 till 18 of may 2008, from 10 h till 20h.

As usual to the eve of a new edition, a press conference is organized to present the 8th edition of Dak’art, on thursday, the 17th of april 2008 at 9h30 AM at the Biennale office, 19 Avenue Hassan II, 1st floor, Dakar Plateau.
This conference will be presented by :
Ousseynou Wade, general secretary of the Biennale of Dakar,
Gérard Senac, president of the orientation committee,
Maguèye Kassé, general curator,
Gilles Hervio, ambassador, head of the
Delegation of the European Commission.

The official selection of 36 artists that are exhibiting at the 8th Biennale of African Contemporary Art was organized by the Selection Committee based on the application files directly received by the General Secretary of the Biennale.
The Official exhibition of Dak’Art 2008 presents artists of 17 african countries and from the diaspora.
Senegal (10), Cameroon (5), South Africa (5) and Egypt (3) are the most represented countries in the 2008 selection .

Applications are opened for Dak’Art 2008. Application documents must reach the General Secretariat of the Biennale as soon as possible and lately 31st of december 2007.
Candidates must download the application form, the general regulation and also the technical form.
These documents are available on the Application page.
The technical form is available in 2 files: .doc and .rtf. Once downloaded, it must be filled in in your text treatment software.
The works submitted to selection must not have been shown yet into an international exhibition.
Dak’Art 2008, 8th edition of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art will take place in Dakar from May 9th until June 9th.
